We are writing to you because you are resident in the European Union and are invested in the Fundsmith Equity Fund, which is a UK domiciled fund and is currently subject to the EU based UCITS rules (Undertakings for the Collective Investment in Transferable Securities).
Following the end of the Brexit transition period on 31 December 2020 it is likely the fund will no longer qualify as a UCITS fund as this is an EU regulation. It will become a UK version of a UCITS fund. In the short term, there will be a very limited impact as the regulatory regimes will be very similar but they may, over time, start to differ.
You do not need to do anything or take any action, this is just for your information. There will be no changes to the way that the fund is run. It will have the same investment objectives and we will continue to follow the objectives set out in the Prospectus and the Owner’s Manual. Indeed, there will be no changes in the way Fundsmith operate and oversee the fund.
If, for any reason, it is important to you that you are invested in a UCITS fund, then you can sell you’re your current holding and buy the Fundsmith Equity Fund Sicav, which is based in Luxembourg. This fund follows exactly the same investment objectives and the two portfolios are very similar.
Gracias por vuestra ayuda
